The Road So Far...

Our Origin

With just three volunteers, including co-founders Oyenmwen Rushton and Grace Essien, activities began in the local underprivileged community of "Aboki Estate" near Elegushi Beach. Mothers were approached for interest in free educational support for their children. Starting with two children enjoying nursery rhymes on day one, attendance quickly grew to 10 by day two and reached 60 by the end of the first week. The age range varied from approximately 3 to 11 years. Nursery rhymes expanded into ABCs over three months, with only the three volunteers conducting the lessons. Despite the lack of official schools in the community, the concept grew rapidly without infrastructure, solely relying on the unofficial acceptance by the local leader.

Current

Most children at Witness School come from backgrounds with single mothers, prostitutes, or lack father figures, reflected in unconventional surnames like Peace, Mercy, and David Junior. Relocations are common, prompting the Foundation to work with the school for suitable replacements, prioritizing siblings. Our achievements, including school fees for 30 children, clothes, bags, and snacks, were made possible through our network. The December 2022 event at BDHC raised significant funds, but as we approach the new school year in September 2023, we once again seek donations.
